Sara Fitzsimmons is a Consultant with BluePeak Advisors, a division of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. and is an experienced Managed Healthcare professional with over than 19 years of experience in healthcare. She has extensive experience in health insurance operations, compliance, program implementation and audit across government and commercial payers, including multiple Medicare Advantage health plans. Sara is a solutions-oriented innovator who is able to streamline processes, reduce costs, minimize risks, and improve quality and service.
Prior to joining BluePeak Advisors, Sara served as a Medicare Compliance Officer within a Managed Care Organization where she performed compliance activities including oversight and monitoring of all operational areas, managed audit activities for internal and downstream vendor audits, and managed corrective action plans and all remediation. Sara was instrumental in developing workflow tools, inventory management dashboards, and re-engineering of several departments within the plan. She has also led operations and successfully implemented efficient and cost-saving processes for several start-up Medicare Advantage (MAPD) plans, including all types of Special Needs Plans (ISNPs, DSNPs and CSNPs).
At BluePeak Advisors, Sara specializes in compliance, appeals and grievances, including end-to-end process review, regulatory change management, writing policies and procedures, oversight and monitoring as well as case operations.
Sara holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Richmond.
